So yesterday began my ten day vacation to the Windy City: Chicago, Illinois.
My mom, my cousin and his family decided to surprise me at my apartment at Rosen. It’s been seven years since I’ve seen my cousin! Just when I thought my family reunion was slowing down, we headed down to the West Gate Resort in Orlando to see my relatives from Gainesville. My cousin from Gainesville recently graduated nursing school and they were down in Orlando to celebrate. So we saw went down there to see them!
Then we went to the outlets because my cousin and his family wanted to go shopping. They went to Disney and Universal Thursday and Friday respectively. Then we stopped at Apopka where my folks lived, to meet up with my dad and for my parents to get their stuff. Then we headed off to long journey to Chicago. My parents, me, my cousin and his son.
I woke up Monday morning and we were in Tennessee. Yup, that’s right we went on a road trip to Chicago. Me, my folks, my cousin and his family. It wasn’t that bad, I got to talk about UCF to my cousin who’s a superintendent in Illinois. It’s so cool how he gets to fire school officials for a living!…just kidding!
One of my cousins was so excited that we’re coming to Chitown that she got to me make a Google Lattitude account on my Galaxy S2…and little did I know that latitude tracks down where you are. So every couple of hours, she’d text me and be like “You’re almost there! I see you!” It’s cool…yet creepy at the same time! haha.
We managed to arrive in Chicago at around 2.30p and that was great! We visit my cousin’s house…which is pretty huge! turned half of the house into a day care, so we walked into a house full of sleeping babies. SO. CUTE.
And then we went to my aunt’s house where we’ll be staying while we’re here in Chi-town. I miss this place, it’s been seven years since we’ve been here! Nothing’s changed really! The same plants and flowers were in the front lawn. I was greeted with my aunt, my two cousins, Lorilei and Sheila, and my cousin-in law, Peter. Cool name, huh?
After dinner, everyone crowded around the living room. Why? Because some Filipino soap opera, correction, soap operas, are on. These non-stop drama marathons consisted of nothing but nice people and then people who either wanted to kill the nice people, or wreak havoc by revealing some superfluous and frivolous news like “Your best friend is actually your brother!” or “You want her, then you’re no longer my son! Get outta my house!” or “I’m gonna kill myself if you don’t come with me!”….. I was like DAMN! I think I’ll stick to good old brainless American tv. haha
And then, somehow my cousins brought up the things I cooked and posted on Facebook. We’re gonna have a huge family gathering and I politely agreed to cook dinner for twenty people. Ay dios mio. I gotta learn how to say no haha.
Sheila took several days off so that we can hang out in Chitown! We’re planning to visit the Sears Tower ( I don’t care if its the Willis tower, it’ll be forever the Sears tower to me), Chinatown, UIC, UC, the pier, Downtown, Magnificent Mile, and more!!! So excited for this shindig to begin!
Pictures coming soon!
