Today is my last day in the Windy City, so we decided to have a huge family gathering. We’re filipinos…so naturally we always eat Filipino food. We wanted something different. My cousin pointed out that I always post pictures of exotic things that I cook on facebook…so why not I cook a dinner for everyone? At first I thought it was a joke, but with my cousins, you don’t joke about food! I love to cook and make people happy so I was like let’s do this!
This reminded me of Food Prep class all over again. I had a few hours to think of a three course meal and quick! So, I decided to make Baked Caprese Salad for appetizers, Chicken Alfredo Fettuccini for the main course, and finally Tiramisu for dessert. Easy enough!
Then I realized it wasn’t easy at all! There was so much pressure to make a good meal! First challenge: I had to cook for roughly twenty people (huge family!). Second challenge: Make a good meal. The groceries for this meal cost about $200…so I better make this dinner real good! Third challenge: Maintain calmness while cooking in front of people. So messing up is sorta kinda not an option here! haha
I think it’ll be boring if I told you how our family bonding went, so why not just show it you in pictures. After all, pictures are worth a thousand words!
I think it was two and a half hours that we were in the kitchen making this. But it was a huge success, it was so good that my cousins were begging my parents if they could keep me haha! I’m really happy that everything turned out great! This family gathering is definitely a huge highlight of my Chicago vacation! I’ll post the recipes for the tiramisu and the alfredo fettuccini pasta soon!
