Belgian Waffles with Berry Compote and Whip Cream
Breakfast at lunch? I’ll take it! But really, I could eat this anytime! It’s warm and soft and delicious! This is how a true waffle should be, it’s warm and crispy on in outside while soft on in the inside. The berry compote was really good and the whip cream complemented it really well.
Steamed Mussels in Hoergaarden Beer and Baguette
Ok, I did not try this because I know that if I ate mussels my stomach is done for the day. But my parents tried this and they loved it! My folks are experts at seafood as they love making Filipino seafood dishes including my mom’s awesome mussel garlic soup. They gave the Belgians a two thumbs up.
Extra: Belgian Chocolate 🙂
Morocco and Baklava
OK, at this point we were full! So we decided to explore around the vast Moroccan pavillion and see what they had to offer. I loved the authentic-as-you-can-get feel inside. We got to Morocco at noon and by then it was rather hot so it definitely added more to the authentic Moroccan weather! The stores were huge and I felt like I could get lost in them, it led to one room after another and finally ended in this awesome restaurant/bakery. We ordered the baklava (the one on the top left is the cashew baklava and the one on the bottom right is the pistachio baklava). We loved both, but our approval goes to the cashew baklava…it was absolutely delicious! We were too full to actually try out the Morocco booth for the food and wine festival…but you have got to try their baklava nonetheless!
Bratwurst in roll
Ich liebe! This bratwurst was really really good and cooked just right. I remember having to grill so much bratwursts for one of our RA events and it was not an easy task. I ended up smelling like burnt bratwurst and charcoal for a straight week. But back to this, I really loved the bratwurst and my only complaint would have to be the roll. I feel like it didn’t do much, it was rather hard and I would’ve much appreciated a more softer longer roll!
Apple Strudel with Caramel Vanilla Sauce
My German professor would not stop raving about how amazing German apple strudel so I knew that I had to try it at Germany. I hope that it’s as authentic as it would be in Germany. I usually don’t like apple strudel so it’s going to take a really good one to impress me. I have to say, it wasn’t that bad! But my folks are raving on about it, so I’m guessing it’s really that good!
Then we went to the caramel bakery shop and it has so much all things caramel goodness! You have to try everything! I recommend the chocolate caramel fudge and you definitely have to get the popcorn!!
Caramel Popcorn – soooooo good!!!
