The way I see it, baking and cooking is an art. And I have a passion for it. For some reason, I find it really therapeutic and relaxing to make something. But the best part of making something is when I’m done and I get to really let my creative juices flow and make an artwork. It’s so much fun and the end result is that much rewarding! Remember, taste is only a portion of a dish, you also eat with your eyes, so make it count!
Classy Banana Cake
We’re not trying to re-invent the wheel here, just make it fun!
- 1 1/2 ripe (almost rotten) bananas, mashed
- 2 cups sifted flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 3/4 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 1/3 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup butter
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1/4 cup buttermilk
- 2 eggs
- 2 teaspoon vanilla extract
preheat oven to 350 degrees
sift the dry ingredients (flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt) in a bowl; set aside
mix the wet ingredients (eggs, vanilla, milk, buttermilk, butter) with sugar. Then slowly combine mashed bananas
combine batter with dry ingredients slowly. Once everything is incorporated, blend/mix high for a minute or so
pour batter onto greased baking pans
bake for about 30-35 minutes or until golden brown and the center does not stick
cool and garnish with whatever your heart desires. This is where the fun begins! For this plating, I felt extra creative and decided to carve out a small hole in the middle and put nutella all while having a chocolate drizzle with crushed walnuts to really give it a nice contrasting finish! Bon apetit!
