When I was a kid, my mum would always make this and even though I wasn’t too crazy about it then, I was craving it so bad today! It’s so easy to make and it’s simply healthy (well somewhat) and delicious! Think Tiramisu, but with fruits and without the coffee. And the way this is layered, it lends it self to a lot of really great plating ideas!
- Savoiardi Lady Fingers
- Ripe Sweet Mangoes, peeled and sliced into small pieces
- Other fruits (for garnish or to put inside)
- 1 can of condensed milk
- 1 can of Nestle Crema de Leche
- 2 packs of light cream cheese
- 2 cups of Milk
- Sugar to taste
- Rum (optional)
I apologize for the lack of measurements, I literally eye balled this recipe based on taste!
mix crema de leche, condensed milk and cream cheese. mix until thick.
mix milk and rum. the rum is optional. when I made it, I didn’t have any when I made this recently, but the rum gives it a really nice kick.
dip the lady fingers, lightly into the milk and rum. do not oversoak it.
layer the lady fingers in a long casserole dish, then put layer of the cream cheese/leche and then top with mangoes (and fruits, I like to just put mangoes)
repeat until you reach the top of the casserole dish. garnish with fruits or mangoes.
freeze for a about three hours then serve. traditionally, some filipinos like to freeze it and eat it like that, or you can freeze it for a bit then put it in the refrigerator. I like to freeze it all the way. enjoy!
