If you are a huge fan of the Lion King or a fan of anything Disney, the Animal Kingdom Lodge at Walt Disney World is perfect for you. This place is heavily themed and you automatically feel immersed into the African safari. This place is huge and one of my favorite places to go is one of their many public balconies with rocking chairs where you can waste the entire day just gazing at the giraffes, zebras and other animals roaming around the park.
But today’s post is on the restaurant that I went to with my parents for my dad’s birthday: Sanaa. You want to dine at day time or during sunset you can see the animals up close and personal. And if you can snag a window table, that’s even better! But no matter where you are sitting, you can still see the animals. One thing I love about Disney is their birthday celebrations. When the cast member was showing us to our table, I casually said that it was my dad’s birthday that’s why we were dining at the restaurant. And sure enough, while we were dining, a few of the cast members showed up in drums and sang happy birthday to my dad and gave him a Disney Birthday card. They already won my heart!
Now let’s talk food. You cannot go here without ordering the Indian Style Bread Service. You can choose three breads out of their options Traditional Naan, Garlic-Ginger Naan, Spiced Naan, Onion Kucha, or Paneer Paratha. We went safe and got all three naans. Then you can either choose three or all of the accompaniments from Red Chile Sambal, Cucumber Raita, Coriander Chutney, Mango Chutney, Coconut Chutney, Garlic Pickle, Spicy Jalapeño-Lime Pickle, Roasted Red Bell Pepper Hummus, or Tamarind Chutney. Do not skimp out and get just three…get all of the accompaniments. It’s worth the price, trust me.
This is probably my favorite bread service of all time. We devoured those three naans like there was no tomorrow. The sauces and dips were amazing. As for the main entrees, I got the Tandoori Lamb, and my parents got the Butter Chicken and the Beef Short Ribs. The flavors are Indian inspired with African influences. There was a perfect mix of vegetables, meats and spices that makes it just right and not overwhelming. They’re also served in good normal portions, not too small, but not too much. Price wise, for three people, you will be anywhere from $100-130, and that’s not too bad considering it’s a Disney restaurant and the bread service is to die for. After eating, we explored the resort some more and went animal exploring.
We had an amazing time at Sanaa and next time you are in the area, you should definitely check this place out!
